The Rhône Valley is one of the classic French wine regions, it is split into the Northern Rhône and Southern Rhône. It is made up of 31 appellations in a large area between Vienne and Avignon, bordered by the Massif Central, the Alps and the Mediterranean Sea.
Major appellations in the North are: Côte Rôtie, Hermitage, Condrieu, Cornas, Crozes-Hermitage, Saint-Joseph. The only red grape permitted is Syrah. It also makes excellent whites from Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne.
Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Tavel and Lirac are the important regions in the Southern Rhône. Here the principle red grape varieties are Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault and is common for these grapes to be blended.
The grapes thrive in the continental climate regulated by the Mistral Wind from the Massif Central to produce exceptional quality wines.

Domaine des Anges
“Our beautiful vineyard shares its name with the chapel of Notre Dame des Anges, who watches over us from the summit of a hill where Roman soldiers once stood guard, looking across a colorful mosaic of vineyards to Mont Ventoux, “The Giant of Provence”, now one of cycling’s greatest challenges.
Domaine des Bernardins
“A family estate for six generations, we still have one bottle of 1847 Muscat that demonstrates just how old it is. We started making wine at the beginning of the 19th Century at Domaine des Bernardins. The property was previously owned by Bernardin monks before being transformed into a wine estate. Mr Louis Castaud was the first one to show real concern about how the village’s traditional production had almost disappeared and achieved appellation status for Muscat de Beaumes de Venise in 1945 after 10 years of hard work”
Camille Cayran
“Our team is very demanding; they work with all its passion to always achieve the best cuvées possible. Year after year, in the strictest respect for the rules laid down by the PDO. The different wines produced reflect the exceptional character of the region, with its harmonious blend of terroirs, microclimates, and aromatic plants, as well as the desire of each winemaker to fully express its know-how.”
Domaine de Cristia
“Created by Etienne Grangeon in the 1950s, the property originally spread over 2 hectares of grenache developed under the impetus of Alain, his son, who joined the estate in 1963. Passionate about viticulture, he contributed to the expansion of the domain by planting thrashing edible grape varieties such as Syrah and Mourvèdre and thus creating the Cristia identity, based on knowledge and respect for its mostly sandy soils.”
Domaine Delhome
“Domaine Delhome is a family winery located in Larnage and is producing wine in the area since the 1900’s. It run by Gerard Delhome since 1993, and he developed the tree growing activity besides the viticulture : his son Romain joined him in 2018, after several years of studying wine and specifically those of the Crozes-Hermitage terroir. Together, they create the winemaking cellar in 2019 and converted the estate in organic viticulture : the 10 hectares are split between 20 parcels on the North part of the appellation”
Domaine Lombard
“The Lombard vineyard, historically located on the Brézème terroir, is a gem of the northern Côtes-du-Rhône. Lombard develops each cuvée as an art in motion, the result of human endeavor and the reflection of its creator’s personality.”
Vines have been growing here for over 2000 years. In that time, while empires rose and fell, Domaine des Anges has had many owners, but its success today is due to the efforts of an Englishman, two Irishmen and a Frenchman.”
Domaine Pierre Usseglio
“The Usseglio estate is a family farm. It was created in 1948, that year, the grandfather, Francis Usseglio, left Italy to work at Chateauneuf-du-Pape as a wine worker. His very first harvest came out of the press in 1949.
Later, his son Pierre took over and increased the area of the Pierre Usseglio estate. Today it covers 39 hectares, 24 hectares of Châteauneuf-du-Pape rouge, 1 hectare of Châteauneuf-du-Pape blanc, 6 hectares of Lrac rouge, 6 hectares of Côtes-du-Rhône and 2 hectares of Vin de France, which are exploited by the two sons of Pierre: Jean-Pierre and Thierry Usséglio.”
