Description
From Oremus’s first growth, hillside vineyards in the heart of the Tokaj-Hegyalja appellation, the grapes for this wine were grown in volcanic tufa soils, similar to the Loire. Aszu (which means “noble rot” in Hungarian) wine production starts with specialized picking of botrytis affected grapes, which are then pounded into a paste and stored in 20-25kg tubs, called puttonyos. The tub’s contents are then mixed with the base wine in specific proportions; so this wine is three puttonyos per 136 liter cask of base wine.
Plenty of cinnamon and orange highlight this rich, firmly structured wine. The intense sweetness is balanced by lively acidity, with a lingering aftertaste of orange and vanilla.
