Champagne
Lete-Vautrain Champagne Brut 204 NV, Champagne, France
50% Pinot Meunier, 25% Chardonnay and 25% Pinot Noir.
The translucent, deep golden hue of theChampagne Lété-Vautrain Brut 204 gives way to initial aromas that are elegant and pure. These are subsequently complemented by succulent notes of apple, peach and apricot. In the mouth, this very well-balanced champagne is complex and round. The after taste is long, with hints of dried fruits. Best served as an aperitif.
“90/100. This is a well-balanced, structured wine. Its great fruit contrasts with the mineral texture, acidity & zesty character. Made with 50% Pinot Meunier, it has a softer side, aided by the ripe finish.” (ROGER VOSS, Wine Enthusiast)
White
Jean-Marc Gilet Vouvray Les Perruches Sec 2022, Loire, France
100% Chenin Blanc. 20 to 40 year old vines grown on clay-limestone soil. This specific terroir is an important factor as it gives the wine a long ageing period and finesse. Expressive with dominant aroma of white fruits (vine peaches) supported by notes of fresh almonds and acacia flowers. Elegant and long, with flavours of citrus and roasted hazelnuts on the finish.
Chapel Peak Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, New Zealand
100% Sauvignon Blanc. The exceptional terroir of Chapel Peak, vineyard located on one of the hills in the heart of the Marlborough region. Generously expressive, it unveils grapefruit & passion fruit aromas, ripe pineapple, underlined by a grapefruit rind. Fantastic balance; full of finesse. A subtle minerality adds a European dimension (which isn’t surprising due to its French lineage). The palate is generous and opulent, with a silky texture, finishing with a delicate floral and citrus freshness. “Chapel Peak” sets itself by its balance and its character full of finesse. Its ageing ability is easily perceptible and lets predict a great evolution for the 3-5 years to come. Pairing suggestions: duck with an orange sauce, lobster and other poultry.
Red
Le Berne Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2021, Tuscany, Italy
100% Sangiovese (Prugnolo Gentile). Intense aroma with evident fruity notes and hints of wild berries, cherry and vanilla. In the mouth is full and round, persistent with a good tannic component. It is a classic pairing with roasted red and white meats, all the cheeses among which it prefers the “Pecorino di Pienza” “90/100. Crafted from ‘middle-aged’ 30-year-old vines, this Vino Nobile leads with aromas of dried rose and warm stones, then a flood of ripe blue plum and black cherry carries through to the palate. While this seems superficially fruity upfront, dry and chalky tannins lend some gravitas, and a twist of citrus zest refreshes.” (Decanter, 17 Feb 2024)
Creu Celta 2021, Priorat, Spain
Hot on the heels of a GOLD MEDAL in the Global Grenache Masters for the 2020 comes the brand new 2021 vintage! Made from 95% Grenache & 5% Carinena the wine displays notes of dark chocolate, pepper, cherry, raspberry, pine and a savoury minerality. Full, long with a rich finish. Redolent of top Chateauneuf du Pape! “Creu Celta 2021 in my opinion is better than 2020, more fruit, body and great colour and more complexity..fresher..outstanding!” (Silvia Puig, Winemaker of Creu Celta & Terra Sagrada)
Bogle Old Vines Zinfandel, California, USA
Californian Zinfandel is one of the world’s most underrated big reds and this version is silky and luscious, perfumed with raspberry and boysenberry, with black pepper, toasted oak and pipe tobacco on the palate. Food susggestion: Would partner venison well along with other more gamey dishes.
