DOMAINE LAPORTE
DWS, under Kevin McAlindon, first imported the wonderful wines of Domaine Laporte in the 1980s! After a recent tasting we decided we had to bring them back.

Created in 1850 in Saint-Satur, Domaine Laporte currently covers 21 hectares (52 acres). It is located at the foothills of the village of Sancerre and across its geological fault. Backing the village of Saint-Satur, at the edge of the Loire river, our vineyards have always represented the gateway of the Sancerre appellation.

Domaine Laporte Les Grandsmontains Sancerre 2023, Loire, France
In the 12th century, Etienne, Count of Sancerre gave a slope located in Ménétréol to the religious order of Grandmontains. Aware of the exceptional quality of the soil, they developed vine-growing on this slope. In 1997, Laporte acquired a vineyard of 4.8 situated in the heart of this slope. Complex notes of grapefruit, minerality, lime zest, kiwi etc. Round, velvety and silky structure. Long and elegant. Exceptional.

Domaine Laporte Le Grand Argentier Menetou Salon 2023, Loire, France
Menetou Salon is an appellation close to Sancerre. 100% Sauvignon Blanc. Beautiful aromatic intensity of gooseberry, citrus, fresh grass and wet stone elements. Elegant, smooth, fantastic length.

“When French know-how meets New Zealand terroir, a fusion of harmony is revealed.”

Fusional Sauvignon Blanc 2023, Wairau Valley, New Zealand
Domaine Laporte have been making outstanding Sauvignon in the Sancerre region since 1850. As one would expect their New Zealand wine ventures have resulted in beautiful and elegant offerings. Aged on its lees for 6 months, the Fusional has a lovely round character with intense notes of gooseberry, green apple plus ripe fruit such as apricot or pineapple.

Chapel Peak Sauvignon Blanc 2022, Marlborough, New Zealand
The Chapel Peak Sauvignon comes from vines planted on Greywacke (New Zealand’s most abundant bedrock found throughout Marlborough’s rivers and alluvial vineyard soils). Generously expressive, it unveils grapefruit & passion fruit aromas, ripe pineapple, underlined by a grapefruit rind. Fantastic balance; full of finesse. A subtle minerality adds a European dimension (which isn`t surprising due to its French lineage).
