The final blend for our 2005 vintage was made in March 2007 and bottled soon after. This vintage has a much bigger component of old vines Samso than our last offering. Whilst mainly blended with Garnatxa, it has a small addition of other grapes. It has been fermented both in open top barrels and stainless steel. Part of the wine has been aged in new and one year old French oak barrels, whilst the rest has been vinified oak free.
Production of the Creu Celta 2005 is less than 3500 bottles. It has the hallmark characteristics of wine from this spectacular region. Rich, textured and full bodied, it has pine, chocolate, cherry, plum and currant notes. This is underpined by a typical smokey minerality from aroma to palate.
No pesticides or herbicides have been used at our vinyard in Salanques, Poboleda, Priorat. To maximise enjoyment, decant before serving.
"Medium to deep ruby core, very stylish, youthful purple rim. Clean and pronounced, red currant, wild strawberry, Morello cherry, violets, pepper, smoke, vanilla, more generous on the nose than the 2003 and more structured on the palate, too. High, fine tannins and bright, red fruit that together tame the alcohol. Shares Sangiovese’s frame and elegance; tip-top Chianti if I did this blind. Plenty to justify tucking this away for a few years – will be better from 2010 and will keep improving for another decade. Another strong effort from this estate and a thoughtful essay on Spain’s most exciting region." MICHAEL PALIJ MW
The symbol for Creu Celta is inspired by the exceptional 15th Century High Cross found on Devinish Island, County Fermanagh.

“Another exclusive, this Garnacha-Cabernet blend is full of spice and berry fruit without being over the top. 4 **** Stars” $30 ‘Worth a Detour’ page on Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant in San Francisco, California. DECANTER MAGAZINE – (March 2007)
“The very sexy things about the Priorat region are wonderful rich fleshy tones but good acidity, the finish is elegant and dry… it's got all those things. Lots of piney scented characteristics, some chocolatey kind of raspberry fruit. It's a flipping good wine actually. Quite impressed. Bloody good!" JOE WADSACK – BBC N.I. Summer Season (May 2006)
"Well done, lads. Slainte." OZ CLARKE - Websters Wine Guide 2007
"Toasty and black fruit aromas. Modern fresh wine, herbaceous and minty, quite tannic and round with a long aftertaste. 2-5 years. Congratulations a good example of its type” DECANTER MAGAZINE – (December 2006)
“The first vintage is stylistically bang on the money, and terrific value.” JOE WADSACK – Harpers (May 2006)
